"I Am An American"

Here's a pro-American poem I wrote last year and first published on RA Folk Nation's previous incarnation, Planet RA!, on December 8, 2006. I hope you enjoy it!

"I Am An American"

by Poorgrrl (aka Seane-Anna)

I Am An American!
Without apology.

I Am An American!
Brave and strong and free.

I Am An American!
I come from every place.

I Am An American!
My nation is my race.

I Am An American!
I'll die for liberty.

I Am An American!
I've set countless men free.

I Am An American!
My flag I will unfurl.

I Am An American!
I stand astride the world.

I Am An American!
I do not cut and run.

I Am An American!
My country's will be done.

Welcome to RA Folk Nation!

Hello friends! Welcome to RA Folk Nation, the blog for the radically American citizen. As youmay have guessed, RA stands for radically American, NOT radical American. There will be NO radical advocacy on this blog, except to the extent that it's now radical to be an unashamed, unabashed, and unapologetic American patriot.

I'm writing this blog to tell all those silent, closeted patriots to get out of the closet and into the streets! (Of course, you out and proud patriots are welcome, too!) Our great, yes, great nation is under attack from within and without and all it'll take for the forces of America-hating "progressives" and Islamofascists to win is for patriots like you and me to remain silent and passive. Believe me, the America haters are counting on that.

RA Folk Nation will not be a partisan blog, even though conversatives/Republicans have, for pretty good reasons, a much stronger reputation for patriotism that liberals/Democrats. There are RA liberals/Democrats out there; there are RA feminists, RA gays, RA blacks, RA Hispanics, and a lot of other RA people who, because of their group indentity, aren't supposed to love America, according to the politically correct Left. This blog is telling those people that they are not alone, that they are not sellouts to their race, sex, class, or whatever, because they understand that, despite her faults, America is the best nation on the globe.

In my post I'll be expressing my ideas about America, what makes her great, the nature of the threats against her, and what we RA citizens can do to fight back. I don't expect total agreement with my opinions from my readers; that's not human nature, and that's not what being RA is about. The RA tent is large and, hopefully, will get larger. As I pointed out above, different types of people are, or can become, RA. In the RA tent you'll find the pro-choice, feminist, atheist and the pro-life, traditionalist, Christian. Things won't always be comfortable in the RA tent. RA citizens will have to learn the fine art of being porcupines in winter: staying close enough together to keep each other warm but far enough apart not to get pricked. That won't be an easy task, but being a patriot is not about doing what's easy; it's about loving and doing what's good for our country.

I hope all who stop by this blog will leave thinking. Think about the issues facing America; think about what our politicians are telling us; think about what's really motivating people like Ward Churchill and Jay Bennish; think about what the news media is, and isn't, reporting. Think, think, think! You have a duty to be a critically thinking and involved citizen. Are you up to the task? Don't come back to this blog if you're not. If you are then welcome again, citizen, to RA Folk Nation, and keep it RA!
