"In 14 hundred and 92 Columbus sailed the ocean blue."
I sang that little ditty as a child in school. It was to teach me about the voyage of an Italian adventurer that ultimately led to the founding of the great nation I was blessed to be born in. I doubt if children are taught the song now. Columbus Day, a day that should be a time of joyous national celebration has become, in recent years, a day of angry protests by Native Americans (NAs) and guilt-ridden, self-hating liberal Whites.
I am well aware of the gripe NAs have against Columbus. Native Americans or Indians, as Columbus named them, wound up on the losing end of a culture clash that neither they nor the Europeans saw coming. The Indians did suffer greatly from the "conquest" of the Americas by the Europeans, but the innocent-Indian-evil-European narrative that's emerged in the last few decades isn't the whole story. The Indians were not all innocent and the Europeans weren't all evil. The RA Folk must take the lead in balancing the telling of Columbus' arrival in the New World.
When Columbus landed in the Caribbean islands he was planting the seeds that eventually grew into the United States of America. If Columbus hadn't sailed there would be no USA today. In fact, none of the nations of North, Central, and South America would exist. The Hispanic illegal aliens who march in our streets proclaiming themselves "native people" need to be reminded that their very existence is due to the arrival of White men from Europe, beginning with Columbus.
Little that makes Hispanics who they are is native to the Americas. The culture of Hispanics is rooted in Spain, a European nation. Spanish, the language of most Hispanics, is from Europe. The countries that Hispanics live in were all created by Europeans. Catholicism, the religion of most Hispanics, is also a European import. And none of this would exist in the New World were it not for that much-maligned Italian. Hispanics should be thankful for him.
Of course, the RA Folk are thankful for Columbus because his desire for adventure and knowledge resulted in the establishment of our nation. The birth of America was not easy. It involved much travail in which Whites, as well as Indians, suffered. As America expanded more travail that again engulfed Whites and Indians alike, ensued. But the end result of these "birth pangs" was a nation that blessed all mankind with an ethos of liberty, equality, and opportunity the world had never before seen.
America is not perfect but she has proven to be the best nation that a sinful human race has produced. As stated above, she has blessed the earth with her presence, a presence secured by the brave travels of Christopher Columbus. The RA Folk salute Columbus. We honor his memory and his name. We know that without him our Republic would not exist and we would not be who we are. So we thank God for Columbus; we love him, and you malcontents can go to hell.

Excellent post!
We are all lucky to have been born here, into this "Republic, if you can keep it," as Ben Franklin told one woman,
Columbus' voyage was incredible for a number of reasons, foremost is that it, in a sense, re-unified the world in a way it hadn't been since the continents broke apart.
Earth worms were absent in America even by 1615 when John Smith and Co settled in Jamestown.
The cross-polonization reached down to the most basic level, re-creating many parts of the world.
European culture predminated, as most of the exploration stemmed from there, but European culture was changed and enriched by this cross-polonization as much as any other.
The original Celts were wiped out by the Vikings who settled Ireland. The original Romans (short and swarthy) were replaced by the Teutonic barbarians from the North.
Human conflict and displacement have been going on for most of man's time on this earth.
As far as those "self-hating whites" go, they are often actually white supremacists who prefer to appear "kind and compassionate" to those they consider beneath them.
You only see their snarling faces when a Clarence Thomas gets nominated for the Supreme Court, or a Mike Stelle runs for the Senate...then they're neither all that "self-hating," nor at all shy about attacking a "member of a protected minority."
Far-Left Liberals are the most cowardly of bullies - people who offer a veneer of sweetness and concern so long as you agree and go along with their views. But when a Mike Steele dares to run as a black Republican (from MD) he gets slimed and those same white Liberals find another black to throw the likes of Steele under the bus.
In that case they found a black blogger from Queens, NY who slimed Steele with the most vile racial epithets and they encouraged fellow Liberals to pelt Steele with Oreo cookies when he spoke.
